Hey all,
I just bought a 1937 B, I have not checked the serial number as I have not got it to the shop yet, and this thang is yellow and appears to be original paint!
Did A-C make any Bs yellow?
This is not a industrial tractor so far as I can tell and is complete with cultivators, planters and a sickle mower. All in useable shape, barn kept, and was being used by an elderly man to garden with.
I will pick it up Satuday and give it a more thorough going over and repost then with my findings.
Jut curious about the yellow paintjob.

P.S. If you really have a '37 B, it should have several distinguishing "features". First, the S/N should be from 1 to 96 or 97, inclusive. Second, the engine will be a Waukesha flathead instead of an overhead valve A-C built. The front wheels have six bolts and there are several other differences. It would be really interesting to actually see one.

P.P.S. I have a '40 B myself.

Donald,
Your B should be Persian Orange #1. An old A-C enthusiast described PO#1 to me as a "pumpkin" orange, that is it doesen't have a lot of red in it. One of my A-C tractors has some original PO paint on it and I have to agree, it is almost the same shade as most pumpkins. Email me off line and I'll send you a list of paint codes for PO#1 from several paint brands. Any good paint man should be able to cross reference them to one of his brands paints.

Never seen a yellow "B", but Allis did make the yellow IB for state and county use. Suppose a state could have ordered a regular "B" and had it painted yellow at the factory. There is a yellow IB in the picture file. I will send you an e-mail with picture attached

I too recently bought an early model B; 1938 production #443. This tractor, unlike yours, has seen years of abuse and neglect. It will take awhile to restore it, but I'm determined. This tractor was painted red by someone, but all of the pictures I have seen show the B in the Allis Chalmer orange.
