I am old farm boy but it's been 40 yrs. Just moved back on a small acreage. I am quite familiar with the old WD-45's but that when I left the farm. I need a small tractor. I see a D-14 with a loader advertised for $3200. My questions are does this tractor have live power, power steering, 3-point hitch and is it enough tractor with a loader for snow removal. Is that a fair price? What is the horsepower? Any info about this tractor would be appreciated or a website where I can get this info.

Kevin, My dad has a D14 and it is a nice utility tractor for him. I mounted a factory AC round tube loader on it for him and it really works well. The only drawbacks to his tractor is it doesn't have power steering (loader makes it a little tougher). He doesn't have the three point conversion , he has the snap coupler . But, that's OK because snap coupler implements are cheap (except for 6' blade ). I think the HP is comparible to a WD or WD45.I have to agree with Gene, make sure it doesn't jump out of 3rd gear as D14's are notorious for that. Scott

D14's are great utility tractors. Not all had power steering. With a loader on a D14 I would strongly recommend power steering and a wide front. They didn't come with factory 3pt hitches, alot of people use an aftermarket conversion kit. If the loader is the old trip bucket made out of round tube it is of very little value. An AC model 414 loader is nice to have. Using the hand operated power director lever the pto continues to turn while the tractor motion is stopping or starting. If you depress the foot clutch the tractor and the pto will stop. So the pto is live but not independant. Later model D14's had a 149 ci engine, early models had a 138 ci engine with a little less hp. For the 149 ci the hp is about 34. Unless this tractor is in real nice shape or has a super loader $3,200 sounds a little high. Make sure it doesn't jump out of 3rd gear. Tires can be pricey since they are an odd size. These tractors perform extemely well and for the money they are a great value.
