I just bought a WC from a guy at work. It doesn't run. He thinks the mag gave out and from what I've tested so far, I agree. Also the fuel bowl looks like it's half full or orange jello. Nonetheless, the interesting part is that it has what he described as a range shift trans built into the front of the rear end. Anybody know anything about these...what, who, when?? Any info on rebuilding the mag would be liked, also.

The aux transmission is a "Sherman Step-Up Transmission" these were an aftermarket modification designed to give you a high range for faster road travel. They are a very nice feature to have.

If you decide to have the magneto rebuile try Mark's Magneto Service 395 South Burnham Hwy. Lisbon CT 06351 Phone 860-887-1094. He has done a fine job for several people I know around here, myself included.

Are you sure it is an aux transmission and not the lever which throws the tractor out of gear to allow the cultivator lift to work without the tractor moving forward . Later WC's had this feature
