I recently picked up a 1949 C, That has what appears to be a new or rebuilt magneto. I checked the point gap, made sure everything was timed and lined up according to the shop manual. Problem is I am getting spark at number 4 cylinder, but no spark at 1,2,and 3. What am I missing or forgeting ? This really has me puzzeled so any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Remove the 2 screws that hold the cap on and check to be certain that the rotor is turning when the engine cranks over. And check the cap for cracks.

A visit to the bookstore or library to check out Neil Yerigan's "Farm Tractor Magneto" book (that's not the exact title but it's close) may be in order. Also, check the spark plug wires - you need copper-core instead of the new graphite core ones. And no resistor spark plugs ....! There! That's the extent of my knowledge of magnetos, and all presented in 5 minutes or less! :-)
