Hydraulic pump on front of WD???

I have a couple of hydraulic pumps laying around and would like to put one on the front end of my WD. This would make life much simpler with my loader. How can I make a connection to the front pulley? I have even considered using a belt but since there is only on groove that is out. I know others have done this but how?

Thanks

How I mounted my pump to my WD. I honed the pulley, then brazed in a steel sleeve. I welded in a 7/8" cylinder steel stock about 4 or 5 inches long. Then I installed a three prong coupler, this was so if I had play, the rubber inserts on the coupler would eat this up without hurting anything. Do not weld this for service of the rubber. Then ran the steel stock about two inches past the crank start housing. I than just made a three piece support with three inch angle iron for the pump utilizing the existing holes in the frame. Then just made a collar to fit over the 7/8" steel stock and pump pin. drilled a hole in each, and ran a bolt thru. Whole project took a day, but half a day way chasing a coupler down. Oh yeah, the pulley I had done by my cousin who works at a machine shop. I figured that had to be perfect.

I saw a wd45 with the front mounted pump,it had a plate bolted to the crank pulley with a short shaft made from two lovejoy couplings coupled to the pump, the plate is probably a machine shop job but I thought it was kind of a good idea. oh yea the pump on the one I looked at was one of those wood splitter pumps, two stage

I made a reversed loader years ago with a front-mount pump connected with a lovejoy coupler as others described. Very little space to work in. A double groove pulley is available for the crankshaft. It was used on WD45 with AC power steering. Fits the WD as well. I changed my pump setup after a few years and gained working space. Moved the front pedestal casting forward, added channel side frame, and mounted the pedestal using two new holes in the added channel, and two front (upper and lower) holes of the original channel frame. Adds about six inches to the length of the tractor, but adds much working space under the radiator. I then used a double chain coupler and sprockets to connect the pump and crankshaft pulley. I think I had a stub shaft welded in the pulley and machined true. That is most important, that the shafts line up as close as possible, otherwise any coupler gets chewed up.

Folks..

What types of pumps are mounting on the WD's -- you know, types (gear, vane, etc.), pressures, gallons per minute, brand names, etc.??

Where did you buy the pump(s)?

How much reservoir does one need for such an installation?

I do not know the name of my pump. It has no name or numbers on it, but it is on a Koyker, so I figured it is a Koyker. The pressure on it is rated for #2250. It is just a square pump with a four bolt patten, with a 7/8 pin. It is a self contained system. All the hyd oil is stored in the loader side supports. about 7-10 gallons.

I thought crank pulleys were not interchangable between WD's & 45's. The loader I bought was off a 45, and I could not use the same pulley. The pulley on my WD only holds on by one bolt behind the dampener, while the 45 pulley was held on in front. I seen a guy in Iowa that had about 10 motors on the bench, and not one would interchange.

Previous post included mention of a double groove pulley... in case you wanted to drive your pump by belt. You'd have to hang the pump along side or below the tractor.
