Last night, I was loading my friend's 'B' for a trip to church. It is going to be part of a photo booth so kids can have their picture taken on a tractor. This one is restored with new paint and decals.

I opened the gas line, set the choke, set the throtle and pulled over the crank twice. Then with one good pull.... launched the stack can about 20 feet!

No one was watching but at least I got a good laugh out of it. I might do that again, for effect, when everybody's watching.

Anyone who has put a can on the muffler has done that and if they say they haven't, ,they are most likely lying.

Our 60 throws it high too. But we use a plastic Rubbermaid type thing so it won't really dent or scuff some paint when it comes down. Maybe that's why they made rain caps...

Tyler-
We've all been there. Guess how high a JD 70 will throw a can in the air; guess how a wife reacts when that can comes down on her Plymouth Voyager!

Tyler,
Used to do that on the other end. In the late 50s, we had several 420 and 430 John Deere crawler loaders with factory mufflers. At the end of the day you would shut them off and put a can over the muffler and start walking away about half the time you would get 40 or 50 feet away, hear a loud pop and turn to see the can about 25 feet in the air. Figured that big flywheel would spin the engine long enough with the ingition off to load the muffler with unburned fuel and the can would trap it. Then a hot spot in the muffle would cook it off and away went the can. After those mufflers wore out, we replaced them but the replacements never acted the same.

I have forgotten to remove the can and when it came down it hit the hood. If it had chipped the paint I would have to used some blue words.
