Has anyone spent the time or money to convert your crank start "B" to an electric start? Yes, I know how expensive it can be. Any tips would be appreciated. Can the block drilling of the two generator mounting holes be tricky. Any help? R.F. Michigan

I changed one over this last spring. I swithced the torque tube and block. Not that big a job. You need to find a parts tractor that has a good block and torque tube, with most of the rest shot to get by the cheepest. They are around, watch the farm auctions.

If you only use the battery for starting it will last a long time before charging is required. Just charge it once a nonth or week as necessary and forget abut the generator and all that stuff. An engine will run a long time on a battery too even if it is being used for ignition.

I have a Farmall A that I am going to convert to electric start. It has a magneto and I'll do just what Tom suggests, battery only and no charging system, also worked quite well on a WC I once had.
