Hey folks I've got a 210 AC,darn good tractor,plenty of power,but. every since I've had the old girl she runs great after a little shot of ether or a roll down the hill,you can crank all day on the starter and she wont even smoke.changed filter several times,thought mabey was bad ,did'nt help.has a roosa master inj pump, took the cover off the transfer pump ,looked ok.theres a plug to check pressure but cant get to it with inj oump on tractor. checked transfer pump relief valve,looked ok.tried an electric pump before the filter,did'nt help either. so what ,a rebuilt pump. you think,or is there hope for the old one.
oh yeah, changed the inj pump the used one did the same thing. any suggestions appreciated

Hey guys,took off injector pump took it to Jefferson city had it checked.got the fuel supply pump on end of inj pump rebuilt cost less than 100 $ seems was'nt supplying enough fuel to keep inj pump primed thats why was having to ether to start. was 50 degrees this morn and did'nt even turn all the way over before was running without ether. oh by the way recently put over $1700.in the motor.had to replace block too. sure am glad was'nt a compression problem. thanks for replies

C.B sounds like your compression is bad. If teh compression is bad it will not fire until you get the motor spining fast enough to fire(i.e rolling down hill).

C.B. This could be simple or complicated. First thing to do is have the cranking amperage checked. If the starter is dragging, the engine will not turn over fast enough to start. If the starter is ok, have the fuel cut solenoid tested, I had this problem on a D-21, the solenoid would drop out during cranking, no fuel, no start. Also run a compression check,Disable fuel solenoid to prevent starting, Run a dry check first there should be no more than five pounds difference from high to low. then do a wet check, use a pump oil can to put a couple of shots in the cyl., then check compression. They should read within five pound high to low and be no more than 30 pounds higher than dry. If they are out of specs, then a ring and valve job are in it's future. Diesels are compression critical,much more than gas engines. Hope it's the fuel solenoid. Good luck. J.L. [Also in Mo.]

If she starts cold that easy by rolling, and you have checked the fuel system out. It sounds like either the started isn't cranking fast enough as=nd is killing the ignition, or maybe low compression.

Check cranking voltage at starter and also check voltage at fuel pump , maybe a poor connection in or along wire from switch to fuel pump that's causing enough voltage drop that it won't keep the fuel solenoid on while cranking
