WD 45 brakes

I'm looking at a WD45 for purchase and the broker handling the sale states that the tractor has almost no brakes. He thinks that the brakes do not need replaced, but just need to be adjusted. Does this sound likely, and if so, what steps would I need to take to adjust the brakes on this tractor. I'd appreciate any advice that anyone can offer. Thanks, Glenn

Be careful there may be oil on the breals indicating that there are bad seals.

I'd pull the brake inspection covers and look at the condition of the brake shoes and drums. There are only two bolts on each cover; the left one is real easy and the right one only slightly difficult in that it also serves as the seat bracket/hinge.

Remove the inspection covers first and check the condition of the brakes and the drum. From my experience usually the shoes are worn, and need new linings (the easy part). Now the hard part, removing the pins under the rear end housing that hold the shoes in place, Sometimes this is a challenge. Good luck!!
