Hey guys, What would any of you guys normally charge for brush hogging services? I am trying to set a fair price.

Chris: People are funny. They think nothing of spending 100 bucks to take friends out for a nice meal.But watch their faces when you mention 65 bucks per hour to wack their weeds! these days,I don't know how much any of us is going to be getting if things get worse. I think 65 would be a starting place. Just imagine how many guys with hoes it would take to do one acre and what that would cost per hour. thats just my opinion 73, Eric Egland

I thought that sounded WAY high at first but Erik has a point. If You use Your tractor, Your mower, Your gas, and risk Your tires running over stumps, $65 sounds fair. Depending on what size tractor/mower You use gas alone could run $5 to $6 per hour. If it was just grass & short weeds in a known clear area the price could be less. If it's steep, tree infested junk yard with weeds 10 ft tall it should cost much more.

The thing is boys, that these people could choose to invest in a good used tractor to do their yard work, but they would rather have the new van or suv to impress their friends. We all know the truly needy invalid neighbor or otherwise deserving type that our maker needs help with. The others, with apparent financial blessings, should be prepared to pay a fair rate IAW the local situation. Thats just my opinion 73, Eric Egland

A guy near me charges $65 for the 1st hour and $45 for every hour after that.
