spring that fits in the water outlet atop of the thermostat. It's 1 1/2 " wide x 2 1/2 " high. Any suggestions? Thanks

AGCO still sells the things. The complete thermostat kit is $28.

Curiosity, does anyone know where the round gasket they include goes? I'm hesitant to put a piece of cork inside my engine... I'm planning to just put the thermostat in the seat (after cleaning it), put the spring on the bottom, and installing the cover. Since mine didn't have a thermostat when I got it I suspect this will be better than nothing.

How big of a cork gasket? Some gasket sets have three different front crankshaft seals. The first crank seals were cork and were installed like the rear seal. Then they pack two rubber type with different outside diameters that press in.

They gave me a gasket in the thermostat package. It would be the right size to seal the thermostat but there is a groove in the housing for the thermostat to sit in. Just curious, maybe the unit fits more than onee application and the gasket is needed on the other applicaiton. I sure didn't want to put that cork inside my engine though.
