Please forgive me for the long-winded question but I have a problem with the engine in my 1950 WF, an exhaust valve that sticks open at times and other times not. The tractor had set in dry storage for 4 years and it had an exhaust valve that was slightly stuck, by slightly I mean that it took one very light tap on the retainer to get it to return to the seat after which I started the engine with the valve cover off and it ran perfectly for a short spell. Now it will stick open for a minute or two then work normally for a minue or two. Seems to stick more as the engine warms up. I removed the valve cover and there is oil running out of the rocker pivots and to the push rod side, but none is running to the valve side, thus the stems run dry except for the mist blowing around in the valve cover. Is this normal? I am trying to figure out if I have an oiling problem, or a clearance problem in that guide. The engine is in real nice condition otherwise. Has good oil pressure and is clean inside. One other thing, the line that feeds the rockershaft just slips into the rockershaft. When running, a lot of oil blows out around the tube were it enters the shaft, thus it doesn't get to the rockers. Is this normal too? Thanks for any help

On the 201 engines, I found away to temoraraly put a little more pressure on the spring with a screwdriver or somthing like that. With the wires pulled so it will not start, turn the engine over a few times to loosen the valve(s) that are sticking. If you would put one quart of "Type F" automatic transmission fluid in place of your oil, that will make everything run smoother and will soften the seals and gaskets in the engine. I just fixed a 1937 WC that I bought at auction and they said that it was stuck but it was just stiff, so I got the tractor cheap! I got it home and got it loose, and I hooked it up to the belt pulley on my WD. It took a while to get the oil pressure up, but after that, I noticed that it had a miss in the engine. The exhaust valve on no. 1 was not closing so I took the cover off and put a bar on the spring to put more pressure on the valve. and then run it while holding the valve to loosen it up.
