We went and looked at a AC D15 tractor today. My husband drove it and said the clutch doesn't grab until it is let out most all the way. Is that normal or is the clutch failing on this one. If so, how hard it to replace and how much does it cost. Also the rear tires (26") are pretty badly cracked and the rim on one side is ify. How much do you think it would cost to replace the rear tires, and may be a rim. Thanks for your input.

check out Miller tire company on the web. Tires are about $175 each. A rim is about $90 normal ring, but they cost 3 times that if you want the power adjust type. Tubes are $25 and about that much for labor to mount it. You can usually spend $450-$500 for new rear tires without the rim. Adjustement in the cluthc could be off, either way you dont have a real good idea of what the clutch looks like. If it dont chater and dont grab, its probably o.k. for now. You cant get the whole story without looking.

We replaced my dad's clutch last winter. I think we had $1500 in parts and about 2 days time breaking the tractor in half and putting it back together again. Our local shop wanted $3000 to do the job.
