AC B not chargeing

How do I check to see if it chargeing? I don't think amp meter works the only time it moves is when you turn the lights on. Can you use 12 v light on 6v system if not were can I get 6v light for AC B, the metal ones.

a quick chech is to take a short piece of wire and connect from the generator "F" terminal to a good steel bolt on the motor (ground it). This is the same a pulling out the light resistor switch, but does not turn the lights on. You should go to full charge, about 8 amps. See if the amp meter moves to positive when you do this. A better way is to have a portable volt meter and measure output voltage when running, but the jumper might give you a good idea. Ddoes the battery stay charged or do you have reason to believe it is not charging? Remember the generaotr only puts out 3-4 amps when running with the lights off. Dont see much on a gauge.
