New readers see previous post for additional info.

Do any of you have any experience with this rod cap problem. We've got about 200 hours on this new motor (2700 hrs on tractor). Do we need to ask the rebuilder what rod caps he put in it? Is there a seperate part number from Allis, or a revised Allis part number, or are they aftermarket? Additionally, is this a common enough problem that we need to check these at a given interval? Any Allis technicians posting?

We are going to buy another Allis and keep this tractor for parts. Any thoughts on long term storage given the fact that our broken in half ( well almost, it looks like a V with the frame right in front of the tires almost touching the ground) AC7060 has a completely rebuilt 200 hour engine.

By the way this tractor was a slick 2300 hour tractor when we bought it last year. It was discing in a field when we pulled up to look at it. Never would have dreamed it would fly apart 200 hours later while pulling a 21 ft. Bushhog Cutter. Anything specific we need to check when we get home with the next one we buy before we put it to use?

Craig,
The rod bolts on that motor are undersized for the horsepower and should have been replaced when that motor was overhauled, if not that may be some of your problem. I know on the early N6 combines the rods bolts failed around 2500 hrs.
good luck,
Pete
