What's an ED-40??? I have looked all the forum but have no information on what I thought was an Allis-Chalmers ED-40? It was purchased new on or around 1967 in Northern Ontario, Canada. It is a 4cycl. diesel rated at or about 40 Hp.....The manual almost seems as though it is British with some of its references. Were AC's built in the UK as well as the US??

Jes indeed a ED40 is a really existing tractor
I own one sinc e few months. In the sixties they are bild in England.
They are exported from England to Holland Germany and to the scandinavian countrys.

There is also been aproduction in France, there wher three types in production in the 60's
The FD3, FD4 and FD5
The ED40 had a Standard 40Hp diesel
the Frensche types al had a Perkins diesel engine
The Perkins engine is an Englisch bild engine.

look in the "article archives" over at the left of this page. go to the miscelaneous section. about half way donw there is an article about the ED-40. You are right, it is british, early 1960's and looks like a modification of a "C" and a D12.
