Hello. I am rebuilding my 1953 Allis B (it's an English model) and need to know the clearances for the mains and big end bearings. I only have the owners manual and it doesn't go that far. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

.002 clearance on the mains and rods. I think end play on the crank is .002 to .005

Thanks Dick. That'll keep me going! One other quick question. What would be the torque settings for mains and big ends? I know at the time "tight" was probably the way to go!

I think the book calls for 80 ft.lbs. on the mains, But I torque them to around 75 ft.lbs. On the rods I torque to 40 ft.lbs and then what ever it takes to get the cotter key through the hole. Make sure you fit and file the bearing insert ends and shim for the proper clearance before torquing or you can crush the ends of the bearing inserts tight to the crank shaft and will not be able to turn the crank at all.
