Does anyone have a power steering torque generator that they would like to sell? I want to adapt it to fit on an allis chalmers ca. It would need to have a shaft on both ends so it can be spliced into the steering column. Or does anyone know where one can be purchased? thanks Kent

My suggestion would be to use a cylinder/valve combination such as an older Ford (like a 1965 Ford 4000 or something similar, like some compact garden tractors). You refit your drag link and install it there. If you add a torque generator between the steering wheel and steering box, you will overload the design of the CA steering box itself, which was barely adequate to begin with. The CA was better than the B, and B steering boxes were marginal at best, but a torque generator may lead you to bust up what you have.

I recently bought the 700 in-lb Char-Lynn torque generator and used it to put pwr str on my Oliver. Works great. They are available at Surplus Center, Lincoln NB. You can call them at 1-800-488-3407 and request the latest catalog. Their price a couple of months ago was $399.50 plus shipping. They call them a "steering valve". They don't have a web site as far as I know. You can also check out the same torque generator (with photos)at Link Detailed dimensional info is available at the Char-Lynn web site. I don't have an address readily available. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys!! I may also look at putting a small power gear box in place of the original box if I don't have much luck getting a torque generator.
