Thanks to all who have helped answer my past questions regarding magento problems, especially Duey from Iowa. I now have a spark! It turns out I had two problems: 1) bad magneto timing, and 2) a bad armature that some how caused only two wires to spark once the thing was timed. I didn't figure this out - I found a fellow in a small town north of us who works on AC tractors. He swapped the magento end for another one he had in the shop and kept the rotor, condensor, points and coil.

Anyhow, if it weren't for the help I received here, I'd probably still have a defective magneto.

Bill,
I would try to get this man to show me some basic things about how the mag works, if he will. This will go a long way towards your being able to keep your C running without having to take it to him any time something goes wrong.
I have a man near me that is a treasure trove of info on mags. Unfortunately, he's in his eighties and won't be around a lot longer. I'm trying to get him to show me things so I can carry on after he's gone.

That's exactly how I felt about this fellow - he's retired and I asked many questions, however, I think he wanted to keep some of that knowledge locked away because it was providing him with additional income. I'd probably do the same, and I hope I have a similar wisdom about something when I reach that age...

I HAVE FOUND THE SPRING TO BE THE PROBLEM IN SOME CASES ; WHEN TRACTOR LOOSES SPARK AFTER WARMING TRACTOR UP. THE SPRING MAY LOOSE TENSION AFTER ALONG PERIOD OF TIME AND THIS CAUSES MAG TO FIRE BETWEEN LUGS ON CAP.
