my boss asked me to post this message. he has a allis chalmers wd-45 and his father was the first owner. everything is original except the battery plugs points ignition set exct. it runs like brand new. yesterday we were running a pto operated irragation pump and after an hour the pto just stopped. it does not spin and you cant take the pto out of gear. all the drive gears work fine. this has never happend before and we have never had any problems with this tractor before. i would like some advice on how we can fix it. he also has a wd-45 diesel! wont sell it though.

I just had my PTO unit off my WD-45, Had to replace oil seal, and seal up the expansion plug.
It's not a big job. A little tricky reattaching the unit back to the underside.. Once you have the unit off, you should be able to determine what the problem is. Sound like the sliding gear is not sliding. Our local Agco dealer got me all the bearings, seals, and gaskets..

Derek,
The small PTO gearbox that the shift hooks to has a sliding gear on a shaft. When you pull the shift, the gear slides and meshes with the drive gear. You may have to drain this gearbox and remove it to find out what has happened. Duey
