I have a 1942 allis chalmers B and I'm thinking of pulling it in the antique tractor pulls in our area I have 10-24 on mine now but they need replacing i have heard people recomending 9.5-24 for pulling but no one says anything about tread design (long bar short bar or 2 long bars and what degree ) which is better? also I heard that connecting the drawbar to the fender mounts helps too ?

I think the older style of lugs on tires is better, the 45 degree angle ones. The newer shallow angle ones , when you are really digging in and pulling seem to be "notchy" You can feel each one letting go. The 45 degree angle tires pull smoother. I think it would be easier on the drive train. I don't know which is best for pulling though. The antique guys here in RI and eastern Conn. use both. And they don't necessarly all have a lot of tread. It seems sometimes the nearly worn out tires pull just as good as the new ones. The drawbar should definately be braced to the fender rails if you are going to use the stock drawbar. Especially if using a short chain which will pull down on the drawbar.

I put a new set of BF Goodrich 9.4 24's on my B that has a stock engine and I am real happy with them. No one even came close at the Sunday Montpelier Ohio pull in the 2500# class.
