I just bought a (1940? AC model B) tractor and I can't get it to start every time. One day it will start the next it will not. Whether it is cold or hot it does not make a difference. I think I have a good spark and I'm getting gas to the plugs. If anyone can offer some help it would be greatly appreciated.

Joe,
You might want to check the ign switch or wiring also, as it sounds like intermittment electrical problems. If you have a mag, remove the wire from the side post. This will eliminate any switch or wiring problems. If you have a distributor,turn the switch on and check for voltage at the distributor. If you have voltage and still no spark I would replace the points and condenser.

you think you have gas and spark. thats realy all you need. normally the gas will have a problem after running, not when starting. I would guess it is related to the spark. HOw about chekcing the spark plugs and wires, may even be time for a new set. take cover off the mag and look inside. dirty point, loose wire on the kill terminal, etc. If it is intermittent i would guess electrical.

Spray some starting fluid in the breather. That will eliminate spark if it runs fine.
