I recently purchased some land and the owner left what he said was one of the first round balers ever produced. The only lettering i can find on it is Allis Chalmer across the top of it. i was hoping that someone may possibly tell me what it might be worth or if there might be someone interested in it

Pat,

Where are you located. I'm from central NY and am looking for a decent machine not to far away.

Roger

An auction last week in N.W. Ohio brought $1350 for an organge-top in restored condition. A rusty one next to it brought $900! I bought one 3 years ago in good working condition, but rusty for $300. Picked up a white-top for parts for $48. Go figure...

It also makes a difference in value as to whether it is an orange-top(early) or creme-top(later model) Roto-Baler.

Pat, First stand behind the baler and look at the right hand upright on the frame. You should see some numbers stamped in the metal near the top, that is the serial number. Get us the numbers and we can tell you the age of the machine. As for value, it depends 100% on the condition and where it is. I recently purchased one for $50 and one that works in good condition for $250. If the flat belts that make up the bale chamber are bad you have a $50 baler. If it works and those belts are in good shape it is worth in the $200 to $300 neighborhood. John
