WD salvage value

I have a WD (straight shift lever) which has had at my best guess a WD45 engine (solid block, no plate)put in at some time in the past. She ran fine until a cap bolt broke, causing a piston arm to punch through the side of the block. Everything else worked fine on the machine until that. My question is, what price can I reasonably expect if I sold this tractor for salvage, or to someone more willing to repair it.

I have enjoyed browsing through the discussions here for some time and greatly appreciate your candid replies.

Have you, ever sold something to one of these salvage yards and need some part off the same type tractor .I, once sold one of them an old M FARMALL and a few weeks later needed transmission shifter forks for a friend they wanted twice what they paid me, for the whole tractor .

Terry,

What your asking is somewhat of a loaded question. A lot depends on the condition and attributes of the rest of the tractor.( A wide front alone can go for as high as $400 in a salvage yard.)Is the metal in good condition? Tires? Rims? Shift lever? Brakes? Ect?...

I often say that things are worth what folks are willing to pay. Non-running "parts" WD's go between $50 and $300 in my area. You would probably get more from a private sale than from a salvage yard.

I'll go with Steve on this one. One of the local jockeys has a non running WD with endloader for $450 which is probably top end for the tractor of $350. Also depends like Steve said on the condition of the rest of the parts, tires etc. John

All of those individual parts can be worth a BUNCH, just like Steve and John said. Even parts like PTO shaft, 3pt hitch (@$300), rims, tires, front end, seat, radiator, transmission, fenders, lights, hood, etc. Keep in mind ALL of these things can bring you good money to the right person if the condition is good. Much better to sell to a private person than a salvage yard. Good luck. :-)

If you'd like to keep the tractor,I've gota 49 WD with straight shift lever and good engine that I've been parting out for for my other WD I'd be willing to sell the engine.
