I just bought this tractor after sitting for several years. It growls from the moment you start it up until you disengage the clutch,it growls worse when torque con is in low, this makes me wonder if its something besides the pilot bearing? I was wondering how big of a job it is to change the bearing out if that is the problem. Any advise is appreciated.

First off, its not a troque converter. It is called a power director in the AC line.

The power director is a mechanical high/low tranny that can be shifted on the fly or put in neutral to allow the tractor to have live PTO & hydraulics while stopping the tractor.

It sounds like a bearing of some sort has gone out in relation to the power director. I have a service manual @ home I can take a look at. I also have the dealer parts manual that will show everything.

I will email you what I find out. I can also make copies of some of the pages, if you would like.
