Could you be talking about a Lambert Single Disc clutch? This was AC's answer to a continuous pto in the CA tractor.Its located on the right hand final drive unit.This clutch allowed you disconect power to the rear wheels while allowing power to continue to the hydraulics,belt pulley,and PTO shaft.

I assume you are talking about a "limited slip differential". If not then disregard the following. As far as i know they are not used on farm tractors. There are several types used on cars, trucks, and construction equipment like wheel loaders and motor scrapers. Basically a rear axle is setup with a differential bevel gear and pinions in the middle. If one wheel starts to slip it takes all the power and the other wheel just sets there and does not move. Limit slip uses a set of clutch plates mounted to the side of the differertial pinion carrier and couples the two axle shafts together with a clutch. Most are setup as a centrifugal arrangement where the two axles cannot varry more than 10% diffference in speed. If they do the clutch is designed to grab and the "dead wheel" mentioned above on a normal axle is then driven and helps take some of the horsepower to ground. Soome clutches are cone shaped and some are a regular 4 or 5 plate type setup. Limit slip is a specif type, but is sometimes used as a general term for axles that work with sometype of clutch. General Motors used a system they called "positrack" a few years back. If you need more info talk to one of the local 4-wheeler truck (jeep) guys in your area that go to mud runs, mountain climbs, etc. They all have them.
