B with hand brakes?

I went to help a friend haul home his new B and It has brake levers going into the final drives where the inspection covers are. It doesn't seem to have ever had foot brakes were all B's like this I have 2 C's on our place and they both have foot operated brakes. T.J.

I've got a '38 B with hand brakes.They make operating interesting to say the least, a pain in the A-- to say the most! Thats what makes 'em fun!

That must be right about the years because I looked up the serial numbers and it is a 1940 , thanks for your reply's my buddy swore that this was some kinda super rare machine worth a fortune I cant wait to burst his bubble ! T.J.

Early model 1940 & '41 Cs also had hand brakes. .I have a '41 C that has been converted to foot brakes.

The hand brakes were similar to the WCs. PITA

Someone may have the exact specs but from what I know, 1941 was the last year the B's had hand brakes.

You mean foot brakes after '41. You may be correct on the year but early production 'B' models all came with hand operated brakes. It really frustrates you feet for a while getting used to it.

Tyler, isn't that what I said? ;) Oh well, it it isn't, what I meant to say was hand brakes up to sometime in 1941 then footbrakes thereafter. You're right about the strange feeling of looking for foot brakes on a machine without them. The converse is true as well. After driving my '41 B with hand brakes for over a year now I went to help my FIL put up hay. I was looking for hand brakes on his Ford 8N. It's s good thing the clutch stayed on the left side or I'd have been in real trouble. The throttle took some conscious thought as well. Back is faster on the Ford. I only threw him off the hay wagon once or twice. ;^)
