WC paint colors

I am restoring an Allis WC. My question is, what should the color of some of the bolt on parts be? Most of the things are fairly easy, however, some parts have both black and orange on them. specifically, the starter, fan, light mounting posts, the lights themselves are black. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Dave, one of my AC books on restoration of the WC shows an original picture of what they call a "later" WC. The description by the picture says "all was orange, even the magneto. Starter is orange. Cannot see generator side but most are showing a black generator. They also mention rear rims with galvanized outer ring. Fronts should be all orange. Some guys paint the silver ring on front. It looks nice but is not the way they came. Don't use silver paint, it's too shiny. My dad bought a new WC in 1947. Some things I remember quite well. The rim paint is one I remember. I have a black mag on my '48 WD with black wires and it looks nice with black lights and the original orange light posts. Lights are black and posts are orange on the WC also. You would enjoy the book: Original Allis-Chalmers 1933-1957 by Fay and Kraushaar. Really nice WC and WD and WD45 pictures. Have fun.

Dave, most older ACs look like they have been
dipped in an orange paint bucket, everything
seems to be orange. I think the starter, fan
and light brackets are all orange so therefore
so are the bolts. I would color it the way I
like it best.
