On my '52 Allis CA: Installed a NEW clutch disc, replaced pressure plate springs, lubed pilot, adjusted release levers to 1 1/2" from retainer as advised in manual, bolted CA back together and was looking at 4" free play on clutch pedal. Lengthened clutch release rod by unscrewing, checked for 1/4" free play between release levers & throwout. Have way too much. The adjustment is on the release levers which were already within 1/2 turn of max to get that 1 1/2" between levers & retainer. Adjusted them to maximum, made no difference. Am I missing something?

Sounds like you did everything right. Was clutch disc aligned and maybe pilot got distorted while assembling? Still wouldn't explain all that free play. Take it apart again. Sorry.

Check the throwout release yolk. I'm not sure, but it may be threaded with a side that is further forward, and if it flopped when you unscrewed it, maybe it's reattached backward. Worth a look. Sam
