Hey all, I have a 1960 D14. I recently pulled it out to drive around. However, I noticed while having the clutch pedal pressed down that when shifted into 1st gear that it engaged while the clutch pedal was pressed down. Is this a sign of something? It hasn't happened before.

A couple of weeks ago I replaced the clutch, pilot bearing, and throwout bearing on the C I have. Started it up and the clutch wasn't releasing all the way, and it would move the tractor some with the clutch "disengaged". Split the tractor again and check everything. Turned out the pilot bushing as too tight a fit, or it was not pressed in perfectly straight and was binding on the front of the clutch shaft. Lapped it out a little with the alignment tool and and some lapping compound and all is well. Could your pilot bearing be tight for some reason? Dried out lube? If it is a ball bearing, could be bad?

If you don't have hydraulics use 80/90 weight gear oil, if you have hydraulics use straight 20 weight non detergent engine oil.

hi,chris if it has been sitting for a few months or longer, the clutch disc could be stuck to the flywheel or pressure plate. if the feel of the clutch pedal hasn't changed that is most likely the problem. if the pedal is a lot easier to push, the fingers on the pressure plate could be worn off caused by a seized throwout bearing or the throwout bearing itself may have come apart and cannot disengage the clutch. there should be an inspection cover or opening under the tractor. have one person operate the clutch pedal while another watches through the hole, you should be able to see the fingers move on the pressure plate. if yes, the disc is stuck. you can try to rock the tractor back and forth with the pedal pushed in and in gear. if the fingers don't move or the disc won't come loose, it's time for a lot of work. good luck dean

Might want to check the clutch pedal for free play at engaged position. should be maybe 1/4" not sure of the exact measurement.

IT SOUND'S LIKE THE CLUTCH IS HANGING UP ON THE SPLINES . MAYBE FROM ON USE OR THE SPLINES ARE WEARING BADLY .
