WD tires needed

Left rear spontaneously blew sometime during the week, spewing CaCl on the gravel driveway.
I supposed I better replace the other one as well, since they are about the same age.

I checked out www.millertire.com and they have 4-ply
13.6.28 tires for $180. (BF Goodrich)

Mills Fleet Farm here in the Twin Cities say they
have Firestone 6-ply for $120 each.

These prices are considerably less than I expected, am I missing something? Any advice appreciated.

Where in the Twin Cities are you located. I'm up in Stacy, just north of Forest Lake. I went to Fleet Farm in White Bear and the said they wouldn't even order rear tractor tire for me. What store did you go to? I'd like to see your tractor and compare. I can always use somebody elses input.

Yes, I'm a bit peeved at Fleet Farm right now.
Not only did they give me the wrong price over the
phone (they are actually $199, not $119) they failed to mention that they are not in stock and it takes 2 weeks to get them. That was the story I got yesterday when I stopped at the FF in Brooklyn Park after work.

I'm getting a quote on the whole job (2 tires, 2 tubes, installation including re-use of the CaCl from the tire that didn't blow) from the tire shop in Aitkin, which is near where the tractor is located.

Please post price when you get your quote. I just was quoted $539 for 13.6 x28 tires includes tubes and installation from Sams Tire in Glencoe, MN. Tires were 4 ply Titans.

The deed is done:
2 BF Goodrich 6-ply 14.9x28 tires
2 tubes
3 bags of CaCl2 (for 1 tire)
Reused the fluid from the other tire.
$700.

I could have saved $60 by ordering the tires and tubes at Fleet Farm, but it would have taken 2 weeks to get them.

Get the Firestones. The new tubes will be another 25 or so and then the installation of about 25 minimum per so figure somemore for the CaCl. 200 per side is very reasonable and will last another 20 years or so. My 2 cents.

Get the 6 ply! I think it's a great price and 6 ply is 50% harder to puncture than 4 ply. Unless you are really experienced at changing these big tires and handling the fluid, you may want to pay a little more and have a tire dealer that will come out and do it for you. They have the tools and know-how to save you some MAJOR headaches and the increase in cost is well worth it. At least that's how I see it. Good luck whatever you do. RC
