Does anyone know the proper setting for the float level of a 1952 model CA allis? I don't believe it's a marvel schebler carb, I think it is another brand and it is original to the tractor. The high speed mixture is not adjustable and I think the float level may be making the tractor too lean. thanks, Kent

What you need to find is a Zenith 161J7 carb.
Size is 7/8" and it is a Main jet fixed. Float leval is 7/16" from the top of the bowl. To top of the fuel or 1-5/32" from top of the bowl to bottom of float.
OR If you have a Marvel-Shebler TSx486 Float leval 7/16" from the top of bowl to the top of fuel, or 9/32" from top of the bowl to the nearest edge of float.Idle jet turn in to rich out to lean.main jet is fixed no adjustments. These notes are taken from the Aliis Chalmers shop book #79003403 that can be bought from your A/c delar.

Dick, thanks very much for the help. your link shows a picture of a float mounted on a carb top but the diagram doesn't actually give a measurement. It just says "float setting". maybe there isn't any measurement spec and the float is just set level to the carb body? is that the case? thanks in advance, Kent

That is what it means. Set it parallel to the parting line of the top of the carb, holding it upside down.
