I posted a while ago about my hydraulics not lifting my scraper blade. Since then I put a tee into the line and ran it to a guage that reads up to 5000 psi.

While the hose was off I cranked up the tractor to double checked that fluid is running through the system. Fluid does pump out of the hose! I then but the guage on. It indicates no pressure. I have no leaks in the hoses or cylinder. I figure it is the hydraulic pump not working right.

How hard is it to rebuild the hydraulic pump? Are parts still available? Could it be something else?

doug, I got my hydraulics working ....try taking it off and clean it in kersene or similar stuff...remove all the pipe plugs and check valve bolts first(be careful not to lose the ball bearings from the upper check valve plugs). let it sit for a day or so in the kerosene and then blow it out. after you reinstall it, try removing the top plug above the hose connect. turn the pto on for a momemt to get it to pump...(book says you may have to prime it)...put the plug in an try to lift, stop the pto and remove the plug again to see if there is air in in..MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID FULL (sae 20w). it worked for me. I had to reseat the balls because I cleaned the bottoms out with a drill and screwed them up, so DON'T do what I did! best of luck - Tom

I am having the same problem with my C. It just doesn't have much pressure. It also leaks back.
I tried to "touch up" the check valve seats, put in new balls but haven't had too much luck. If you find out how the check valve seats should be ground, please let me know. The manual says to replace the seats. I will buy seats if anyone knows where to get them. I am just shy of getting a rebuilt pump, but I might as well try to fix the problem first, with minimal cost. Thanks for any help.

probably the hydraulic valve- ball-springs. you forgot to tell what the tractor is WD or C. There are a several guys on this site that are very good on internal valves that will help if you give them the tracotr model.

It is a Model C. 1949 vintage according to the serial number. Once I get this working I have a list of jobs to do for some friends, grading driveways etc... can't wait to go play with my toy!

the C uses a low volume high pressure piston pump with check balls and springs. I would post a new note at the top of the page and ask how to overhaul the pump for the "C". there are several experts on this page who can give better info than me.
