I am looking at buying an AC T-816 garden tractor.
Body wise it needs paint, new seat everything, including springs, and one of ther seals is leaking on the right rear wheel. A couple of the tires look like they are cracking and it needs a battery and a complete go thru. On the other hand it comes with a 30" tiller and a blade for the front. It also has new belts. The guy selling it is asking $1000.00 CAN. = $1600.00 US. Does anybody have an opinion on condition vs. cost. Are the 2 cyl. 16HP B&S motors reliable? Year approx. 1983-84.

that sounds a little high. I have a Briggs powered tractor. The engine ran 900 hours and started buring oil. I talked to factory and they said it should last 800-1000 hours on a 16-18 HP engine. Thats 2 hours per week for 10 years. Rebuild cost was $550. new short block was $700. I took the short block. good luck.
