Allis Chalmers WD 45 transmission

I own a 1954 WD 45 that gets stuck in a forward gear. I can shift into reverse but am still in the forward gear at the same time. I see this may be a common problem with this year and model. I have removed the shifting lever plate and forks. It appears that a collar on the front of the gear assembly mass is sloppy and may get hung up on top of the tapered protrusions of the formost gear. If this is the problem how do I remove those parts for replacement? It looks as though the entire assembly should come out the back through the plate on the rear axle housing. If anyone knows how to go about this I would welcome a basic walk through of what to do. Are transmission parts available through AC dealerships?

I think your problem is that the pivot is getting sloppy and causing the lever to switch gears.
