Type C cuts out after running for a while

Could a faulty cut-out relay on a type C cause it to shut down after warming up and running for a while? Even with no load and at idle it just shuts off. It has new plugs, wires, and the magneto was checked out. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Bill, My quess would be a coil or condenser that shorts out when it warms up. Try checking the spark when it shuts down. If there is none, the problem is in the mag. which is a self contained spark system. The wire to the mag is a grounding wire that kills the spark and stops the engine when the key is turned off. (The cut out relay allows the generator to charge but stops the battery from discharging back through the generator). Duey

Thanks for your reply. I haven't checked the condensor. There is no spark after it shuts down.

Bill, When you dig into your mag.to check the condenser, check the coil too. Both the coil and condenser can short out when they get hot. Duey

Duey, I replaced the magneto coil, condensor, points, cutout relay, and plugs, and I'm getting gas to the plugs, but no spark. What do you think? Maybe the next thing is to replace the spark plug wires and cap? The thing cranks over, but no spark is at the plugs...
