WD will not restart

Suggestions please,
My WD will not restart after its been running for awhile in the field. I have heard a few things to try out, But am looking for more a "main reason" it would do this.
I have herd
A- hotter coil?
B- adjust timing
C- adjust carb
D- replace plugs

Note: She dies appx 1/2 hour after use and won't even catch, yes-I have fuel and spark, and this is still a 6 volt system.

My WD was doing that, bad condenser. It would get spark after it stalled and so looked good but would not start till it cooled off. Then it would run fine again for about 30 min. Changed the condender in the magneto and ran fine.

Check the vent in your gas cap. If it is plugged, fuel leaving the tank and going to the engine will cause a vacuum in the tank and fuel will stop flowing after a while.

I have a b allis it would run good for about a hour then it would start missing shut it off and it wouldn't start until it cooled off the magneto was causing the proublem .

Mike, Dave & Dave are both right. Check for spark right when it shuts down. The coil and condensor, one or the other, can short out when they get hot. Also if you check your fuel flow out of the tank, be sure to check the sediment bowl opening to the tank. Mine did the same shutting down and I found rust flakes large enough to plug the opening but not small enough to go through to the screen. Duey

One response I picked up on the other day was that the fuel line between the sediment bowl and the carb was rusting closed internally. The engine was using fuel just slightly faster than the fuel could get into the carb. I think I may replace mine with a copper line.

Mike, could you supply more info please. Have you a coil or magneto ignition (there is a coil in the mag)? When it dies, did you try all the plugs for firing? Did you shoot some ether in the carb intake and crank again? I'd do a tune up first, check the fuel filters and go from there first. On any machinery, the rule of thumb is the electrical system is the weakest link.

I would agree with the other guy that the gas line is pluging up, but if the tractor has been used regularly, the line should not rust up. So what I would do is take the line off the tractor completly and take some 1/8 inch cable and some WD-40 and run the cable through the line. I have got a WD-45 that was stuck for like 20 some years and all I had to do was run some cable through the line really good and it helped to blow the garbage out with a force of air. If that doen't solve the problem, I would start looking at the electrical system (Battery, Switch, Ground Strap, and the wires) I had a problem with the electrical and what I did was I got a larger 6 volt battery (720 ca@ 32 degrees) and that solved most of my problems then I got a new ground strap, but I am still having problems, I think it is the switch that is cutting the power to the ignition.
