What size Buda diese engines did A.C. use?

We have a rebuild Buda that I would like to sell, but I dont know what it fits. It came out of a Gleaner combine, but I was told the same engine was used in tractors also.

The engine was completly rebuilt and it has an add on turb on it. After the engine was rebuilt is was installed in a Ford pickup where it got 50MPG. but it would blow it's headgasket if it was lugged at all. It was only run about 75-100 hours before they reinstalled a gas engine. This was in 1979, before Ford sold diesel trucks in the US

A it sits now, it is painted Ford blue, and has a new headgasket in it. It would make a great engine for simeones tractor if I could find out what it fit. It is a 6 cylinder, and we THINK (not sure) it is a 251?????

Anybody have any ideas?

Its most likely a 262 like what was installed in a D-19. I've always heard the Buda designs didn't tolerate lugging much at all. Usually a cracked head was the reward. The 301 is a much better engine than the 262 ever hoped to be. Brian

It is a 262, we found the tag on the engine. I know it doesn't have a cracked head.

I have a wd-45 diesel that has a 230 ci Buda in it. I am not sure but I believe that the D-17 and D-19 diesels used a 262 ci Buda. Both engines look the same in appearance other than that the 230 used a american bosch injector pump and 262 used a roosa master injection pump.
