Has anybody any advice as to how to split the engine from the torque tube to repair the clutch.
How can the engine be supported safely to stop it tilting either forwards or sideways. How easy is it to get the two items apart? Should i use wedges between the joint. Any help or advice as to how to do this job safely and efficiently.
Thank you

chock front wheels. hang engine from whetever is strong and solid, you can use chain and turnbuckles is you don't have chainfalls. Block up engine too if you want it to be more solid. have a dolly and blocks to put under torque tube. remove bolts, roll torque tube back on rear wheels and dolly. Carefully. A level concrete surface is good to work on if you can, if not maybe a sheet of 5/8 or 3/4" plywood for the dolly to roll on. Level is important. It isn't hard. Just make sure the engine/front end is secure, and watch the dolly when rolling the rear back. Don't forget to have it in netural.

Trevor,
I have done this before. Get a couple pieces of angle iron and put slotted holes in one end matching the holes of the side of the torgue tube. Slotted holes allow for adjustment up and down. Rig up an overhead trolley with a chain hoist and wrap the chain around the rear part of the engine. Unbolt the torgue tube from the engine and push the engine forward. Nothing to it.

use blocks or jack stands under the torque tube to support the back of the tractor an engine hoist to hold the front and move it forward for the split.wooden wedges in the front end will keep the engine from tipping.
