I am having major trouble getting the PTO shaft undone from the pto drive box on this wd45, I have looked through my manual and it shows nothing but a bolt holding it on . what would it do if I heated it? I have taken pullers and even a chain and jerked it enought to move tractor. am I missing something or is this thing stuck... I need to change the seal in the PTO drive box and need the shaft off to do so. thanks

You have to remove the bolt on the pto box and the two carrier brg bolts at the rear of the shaft. The front bolt was a special shouldered bolt originally. A lot of times a regular or smaller bolt was used in its place by mistake. This caused the pto box output shaft to get gauled and wear groves inside the pto shaft causing it to be very hard to pull off the rear shaft.

Well if the bolt that holds the front of the shaft to the PTO is out, you could hook the tractor up to your haybaler or whatever and run it. You will know when it comes loose.

Try putting the PTO in gear and putting a pipe wrench on the back shaft and turning. Usually this will break off the burrs around the bolt hole.

Assumini you have removed the two bolts holding the rear bearing support and the single through the shaft bolt I would muve the shaft from side to side then rotate the shaft shightly and move the chaft from side to side. if that does not worl a little heat would't hurt but not red hot. My 2 cents.
