I just bought a '74 Rotobaler. It's in almost new condition. It was only used part of one hay season then stored inside. I've heard it's not a good idea to tow the earlier models with a pick-up truck and if you do not to go over 30 mph. Does this also apply to this late model one? It's about 50 miles away. I talked to the closest Agco Allis dealer, but, they could'nt offer any advice. Thanks, Gary in Oklahoma

Loading/unloading a Roto-Baler onto a trailer with ramps is a cussable job. Using a loading dock or high bank you can just back the trailer against is a little better. Best of all is having a strong front-end loader to hoist the bloody heavy thing onto and off of the trailer.

Thanks, WSF. There is a good ramp and a loader at each end. I actually got two rotobalers from the same guy. One is a 1950 and, as I said in my first post, the other is a 1974. I usually bale about 2800 bales a year with two JD 435 balers, so this is going to be fun to play with. Two of the neighbor boys are willing to pick up the bales so I got that covered. The two of us on our farm baled about 2000 bales last year with our Roto-Baler. We've found an AC Bale Loader that we will fix up and put on the RC to make pick-up easier; teenagers around here seem to think the work is too hard! If you need any Roto-Baler tips, send an email; they can be persnickety machines.Good luck.

As long as you stay under 30 mph and can go the whole 50 miles on back roads, you should be ok. Remember that it's going to pull offset behind the truck unless you modify the truck hitch. Make sure the tires are ok and everything is greased well. I like Roto-Balers but they are common to load onto trailers.

To answer your question...I don't know, but...give me a day and I'll ask my Dad, he's had them for years, and I'm sure he'll have a good idea. I'm sitting here thinking...I'm not so sure that its ground driven in any way. Maybe you heard about pulling them cause they are basically left handed...I know he's brought his out here and pulled it about 20 miles for me to work on. Sounds like you've sure got a really good deal on a it. I wish I had have had the forsight to buy one like the one you're talking about a few years ago, I stood at a sale and let it go for $400 dollars...it was absolutely new...They are really good balers, and it sure eliminates the rush to pick up bales, although they are a real pain to handle. Well I'll give him a ring in the am and see what his opinion is...
