D14 hydralics

I hooked a cylinder up to my little D14 today. Raised up fine, but wouldn't go down...whats the deal?? I have a feeling I'm not doing something right, but had to crack a line to let the pressure off to unhook the hose. The control lever acts like there is no response in the valve to let the hydralic fluid return to the tractor from the cylinder. I kept having a feeling there was a connection between the remote fitting and the traction booster, but I never could get it to let off the pressure...Thanks for any help.

It sounds like the hold position plunger may be broken. The plunger unseats the ball that holds the pressure. Or it may be a linkage problem. Duey

You may only have one way hydraulics. But if the cylinder worked fine before as a double acting cylinder then you could have a binding problem in the cylinder or the control valve is not shifting properly.
