I am thinking of doing an engine overhaul on my WD. Can I make it into a WD-45? and get more hp from it.

If you want more, lots more power, get a D17 AC engine or a "Gleaner" combine engine (by Allis Charmers) and you will have a higher horsepower, larger displacement, higher compression, higher speed engine with a balanced crankshaft and higher oil pressure. These engines will "bolt right in" to the WD. It will make a WD a "Screamer" it will also wear the gears and bearings faster. Good luck Gordon in IN

Yup, just add the 45 crank ( bolts right in. 45 head, carb, etc are all good. For a bit more, if you have been converted to 12 volt, you could use a D17, 175, etc overhaul kit. Ups the compression a bit and they all drop right in.

If you use the 45 crank you better use the 45 pistons too or you'll have major problems when you try to start it. I have a D-17 engine in my wd, much better. If you use a D17 or E Gleaner engine you will need the WD water pump and crank Pulley.
