Char-Lynn Pump/Hi-Lo-Pac

Wondering if anyone could shed some light on the use of a Char-Lynn Pump for a B-Allis? Now that I have the proper spelling I thought that I would resubmit. Also, where to find parts and information on this type of pump. Thanks!

May want to look a little closer at the unit. CL also made a "hydraulic motor" called a "HI-LO" for high torque at low speed. A motor is the direct opposite of a pump, but they look similar. You put oil flow into a motor and it turns the shaft and produces power to drive something. If the unit says "HI LO" on it, you may want to find out more. Are there any other marks on it???

I would try calling around to hydraulic supply places in your area. Ask if they know of a char-lynn distibutor in the area. If you need parts only you can call hydraulic component repair companies. it may be only a little more money for a new unit. You may want to try your local Grainger's they have most hydraulic stuff.

Thanks for the info., Steve and Kurt! I am still wondering, however, if this is a good pump setup for an Allis B. Right now I do not have a use for it but would like to get a loader or push blade for the front. I just happened to come across three of the pumps for a few bucks so I bought them. Any opinions and/or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Dont know what size pump you have. You can connect a cup or hose full of oil on the inlet and turn the pump a couple revolutions (maybe 10) and see what volume of oil it puts out. Then figure if you put it on the PTO shaft it will turn 540 revolutions per minute, (or 54 times as much volume as you got with 10 revolutions), on the front crank shaft it will turn 1600 rev per minute,same as the engine and put out 3 times as much oil as when connected to the PTO, or bolted to the side of the engine like the generator you can gear it to run 1000 to 2000 rev per minute. Figure out you pump size and then determine what you want for flow to your cylinders. Maybe 5 gallons per minute would be enough. If your pump would put out 5 gallons when turning it 500 revolutions, then it will put out 5 gpm if connected to the PTO shaft (running 540 RPM). You have to know what size you have and what flow you want to figure out how to get there from here.
