To whom it may concern. There was a message earlier on this forum concerning lubricants on liner o-rings. Use what you want, but just put O/H kit in AC 6080, and instructions advised NOT to use engine oil on o-rings as this would cause them to immediately swell beyond the size of the liner OD. This is contrary to an entry indicating that since they are always in contact with engine oil, it would be OK to use it. Reading directions is a bad habit I picked up along the way. Vegetable oil was the lube of preference according to this kit manuf.

I have learned that the safest lube to use on anything is a vegetable oil if you have no guidance otherwise at all. It seems that if you can drink it you can use it on rubber and plastic items. I also have found that if you wipe some vegetable oil on the threads of light bulbs before screwing them into their sockets they don't get stuck try to get them back out.

A local John Deere dealer shop started using motor oil on the o-rings and locked up 3 or 4 4020's on the dyno.
