Not an AC mecha

The guy down the road has an AC D19 gas. The motor is wore out. It smokes bad, and uses more oil than gas. He want me to fix it, but he doesn't want to pay to do it right. Is there any combine motor that will fit in this tractor? It is a 6 cylinder gas motor.

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

The Gleaner C, CII, and early F used the G262 six cylinder gas used in the D19. We recently finished converting a D19 diesel over to a 262 gas using the engine out of an early F. Since yours is already gas, you have all the parts you need. You will have to switch governor housings, and also the carburetor if you want to keep the stock appearance. We chose to keep the larger F carburetor. You can definitely feel the increased horsepower over the stock carb when working the tractor. I estimate 10 hp over stock, but a dyno test this spring will confirm. Another thing that you will need to swap will be the front engine mount. There are other little things that I can't recall at the moment...

We found an excellent running 262 gas from an individual for $150, but depending on your area, it will probably be closer to $800 or so (that's the price salvage yards were asking in our area).

Good luck,
Brian
