Change trip loader to hydraulic.

I have a 1951 Allis WD with an Allis trip loader. I was wondering how hard and costly it would be to put a hydraulic cylinder and control on it so I can tilt the bucket hydraulicly. Can I use the same pump system? Do I need an auxillary pump? Thank you for your time! Tony.

Its not a difficult job, but will probably cost $250. You can use your present pump. I assume you have a valve (or valve handle ) by the steering wheel for the boom lift. You now need two seperate levers. Probably easier to install a double spool valve (one for lift and one for dump) as compared to installing one vavle and trying to keep your present boom valve. All you need to do is run the present pressure hose from the pump to the new twin spool valve. Then a hose from valve to each individual cylinders. If you have boom raise and float down, you have a single way cylinder setup. You can confirm this as you only have 1 hose to the bottom of each cylinder, non to the other end. Would be best to install the same for the bucket, power retract and gravity dump. If you presently have pressure down and up, you have a two way setup. Uses more hoses and more difficult, but can still be setup. Dual valve probably cost $120, cylinder cost $70, and another $50 for a few hoses, give or take. If your system is different than I have described, repost. If you want a simple sketch, just ask.
