Allis chalmers A or B?

Just acquired an a/c with what I think is the serial #204845. I am wondering how to tell if it is an A or a B model. I plan to restore it and need to know where to start.
It came with a sycle mower mounted in the belly. It has a small hyd cyl for raising and lowering the bar. Also has a pully for running a hammer mill or saw by large belt. The pully is on the left side also known as a cat head.

Have just purchased allis Chamlers w/serial # 204845 located on the transmition under the seat, I believe that we have looked in the right place. Bought this in NC and am trying to find out the year and model of this tractor. Have been told it's a B, can you help us. Mr Fickling did you restore this Tractor? as you stated in the above info? What can you tell us about this tractor

An AC B weighs about 2000 Lbs a AC A weighs 6000 Lbs Big difference.

like the guys said, the B is little and usually can be equiped with a small sicle mower. The B and C tractors have no frame. The engine and transmisssion are connected with a torque tube. Bigger tractors have a C channel frame with the engine and transmission inside. PTO on a B is out back below the bench seat. Big tractors may have this and also a side drive pto. Serial number for a B is next to transmission lever. If you have a WD, U or A it is not.

An Allis B looks about the same size as a Farmall C. It usually has a wishbone style front end and the serial # in front of the shifter lever will begin with a "B". An Allis A looks more like a tank, sounds like a tank and has more power than a tank. Wide front is not adjustable, had orchard-looking fenders (smooth half circles.) IF it is an A you should get it. They are true collector's items and restored ones often bring BIG $$$

Hey Rob that's a neat discription of an A. You might have added that if it's cute, it's a B. If it's IMPRESSIVE it's an A

With that serial number it can't be an A, most likely a B. The A is a huge tractor and I can't imagine one with a belly mower. Click on the tractor photo section and search Allis. There is an A and B in the same photo. Was about the fouth one down last I looked.
