I was wondering if anyone knew of a place that you can get parts for an AC two row corn planter? I'm not really sure what model mine is (no tags) all I can say it its a two row planter, 3pt hitch, chain driven model. (if you know the model number that'd be great too!) Does anybody know a source where I might get a manual for it? Parts List?

I'd appreciate any help

Thanks

Thanks Gary..But right now all I know is that its an AC...I don't have a model number or tag or zip. I did take pictures..If I sent you one would that help you ID my planter and enable you to see if you have the proper parts?

Thanks alot
Andy

I used to have a 2-row AC that I converted to 3 pt., turned out good but I regreted doing it for collector value reasons but I needed a planter to use. Yours sounds like it along with a 3 pt. somebody made for it. AC made a 3 pt. 2-row but not until the late 60s or something I was told. Like yours mine didn't have a model number or even a ID tag. It is simply called the AC snap-coupler drill planter made from 48-59. Your best bet for finding a manual a manual is at E-Bay.com, that is where I bought mine for $6.50 is excellent condition. I thought I was lucky to even find one but then another one showed up a few weeks later. These are kind of rare planters these days and parts are hard to find. Parts at a AGCO dealer will be very $$$$$$ if he even can get them. Your best bet is to find another planter to take parts off of. Good Luck.

Thanks for the tip Alan...I did try on e-bay without much success. I have a broken casting on a seeder box and one of the fertilizer box bases is just shot...I was hping to get it all back together by next month...it's turning out to be more of a challenge than I bargined for!

Both of my fertilizer box bases were shot as well. As for the crack on the seed box casting, you should be able to have it brazed. Cast is really difficult to just stickweld but it can be done. My dad is good at it but he has been doing it for years. You probaly already know this but, that planter is almost all cast iron exept for the bins. Cast is very brittle, you hit it with a hammer it will easily crack. Use a short chunk of a 2x4 etc. with the hammer to soften the blow of the hammer so it doesn't crack. Or use one of those half rubber mallet/half hammers. The guy I bought it from learned this the hard way. Just keep trying e-bay evevy couple of days, one should show up someday.

Andy -
Pardon the piggy-backing - I'm in the same boat!!

I just brought home this planter - seeking same info for model and manual. My planter pics>Link

Here's>Link a response to your request via (TimNJ) "Pull the plates out and look for a number on them.

Lincoln Ag
445 N. 66th St.
Lincoln, Neb 68505
402-464-6367

This company supplies new plastic planter plates for John Deere planters and should still have the center adapter hub to allow you to use the JD style plates in your AC seed hoppers. If I'm not mistaken, AC used the older style JD drive that Deere last employed in the 999 horsedrawn planters."

HTH,

Hi Shep...

Your planter doesn't look like mine. I have a seed box AND fertilizer box. the whole thing is driven by two spoked wheels that have rims that collapse the dirt over the forrow. These wheels turn a series of gears..on the fertilizer box and the seed box. You can move the chain to different gears to control the spacing of the seeds (I assume). I'm going to follow up the lead give here by Tim. My e-mail address is Agrinthal@nac.net. If you have any leads let me know.....In the mean time I'm going to get a picture of it posted up here...Thanks!
