Getting a steering arm back on a C

I'm helping a friend with his C. He pulled the steering arm off the steering box in order to remove and overhaul the steering box. The problem now is that the steering arm won't go on easily. I put anti sieze on the shaft before we tried. There was no corrosion on the arm. Any ideas? Thanks for the help, JW

There could be one spline missing as a way of locating the arm in the right place, check for this.

We've got it started, just can't get it all the way on... seems to be hung up. Any ideas?????

If it came off it will go back on. Look for the reason. Look at both ends of the splines. Look for that missing spline, I don't know if there is one but many steering boxes have such, as a way of getting the arm back on in the right place. Is there a piece of dirt or something stuck in there that isn't letting it go on all the way? Good luck!! Let us know how it goes.
